How to make Sun Tea

Select your favorite tea bags. Black tea is a classic choice for sun tea, but you can experiment with green tea, herbal teas, or flavored teas to suit your taste.

Make sure your glass container is clean. Rinse it with hot water to ensure it’s free of any residues.

Place 4 to 6 tea bags in the container. The number of tea bags can be adjusted based on how strong you like your tea.

Pour 2 gallons of fresh, cold water into the container over the tea bags.

Secure the lid on the container and place it in a sunny spot outside. Ensure the spot gets direct sunlight for several hours. The sun will gently warm the water, allowing the tea to infuse slowly.

Let the tea steep in the sunlight for about 3 to 5 hours. The intensity of the sun and your taste preference will determine the exact time. Taste the tea periodically to check its strength.

Once the tea has reached your desired strength, remove the tea bags. Avoid squeezing them, as this can release tannins that make the tea bitter.

Transfer the Sun Tea to the refrigerator to chill. Serve over ice with optional garnishes like fresh mint, lemon slices, or sweeteners.
