When I was a kid I used to love going to church salad luncheons. There were so many yummy homemade salads and hot dishes but there was always my favorite sloppy joes made with chicken gumbo soup. There’s just something about this recipe, it’s just the perfect blend of tangy, sweet and savory.
In today’s world it’s easy to always be looking for the next new thing but to me sometimes it’s better to go back to old fashioned recipes like this one. To me these sloppy joes are a comfort food, so the next time you’re craving a delicious and easy meal, remember the humble chicken gumbo sloppy joes and bring a little bit of tradition to your table.
