When I was little I absolutely loved my Grandma’s Peanut Butter Cookies! Besides eating them, I thought it was so fun making the crisscross pattern with the fork! I still enjoy doing that today, it always brings back such great memories of making in my Grandma’s kitchen. I was looking through her recipes last week and I was so excited when I found this recipe. These cookies are soft and chewy, loaded with peanut butter flavor, the perfect treat with a glass of cold milk. National Peanut Butter Cookie Day was June 12th, so in honor of that I decided it was the perfect time to make these classic cookies again. This is one of my favorite little snacks and since there’s protein in peanut butter these cookies must be healthy, right?

Grandma’s Peanut Butter Cookies may not be the healthiest treat, but they sure do satisfy a sweet-tooth without breaking the bank. They are incredibly simple to make, and can be a great activity to do with the little ones. What is a Peanut Butter Cookie?

Ingredients

  • Granulated Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Peanut Butter
  • Shortening
  • Butter
  • Egg
  • All-purpose Flour
  • Baking soda
  • Baking powder
  • Salt

How to make Peanut Butter Cookies

Mix shortening, peanut butter, sugars and egg thoroughly.

Sift rest of ingredients together and stir in.

Heat to 375°. Roll dough into balls the size of large walnuts. Place 3″ apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Flatten with a fork dipped in water then crisscross.

Bake 10-12 minutes, or until set but not hard.

Let cool on a wire rack.

Serve and enjoy!
