I’m a huge fan of breakfast especially on a Saturday morning when things move a little slower at my house. That’s the perfect time to breakout the Blackstone griddle and make Loaded Hashbrowns!

Loaded Hashbrowns are the ultimate comfort food, combining all the best elements of breakfast in one skillet. You get the crunchy, golden texture of perfectly cooked hashbrowns, combined with the rich, melty goodness of cheddar cheese and the smoky, salty flavor of ham.

We used to be able to get these hashbrowns at a local restaurant but for some reason they changed their menu so we decided to try making them at home.

What are Loaded Hashbrowns?

Loaded Hashbrowns are a delicious variation of traditional hashbrowns, enhanced with a variety of flavorful toppings. Typically, they start with a base of crispy shredded or diced potatoes that are pan-fried or baked until golden and crunchy.

Loaded Hashbrowns can be served as a hearty breakfast or brunch option, but they also make a fantastic side dish or comfort food for any time of day. The combination of crispy potatoes and savory toppings creates a satisfying and flavorful dish.

  • Frozen hashbrowns
  • Diced onion
  • Diced green pepper
  • Diced red pepper
  • Diced ham
  • Shredded cheddar cheese

How to make Loaded Hashbrowns

Heat your Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F).

Spread 1-2 tablespoons of butter or oil onto the griddle.

Place the hashbrowns in a thin layer over the buttered area. Press them down gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking. Season with salt and pepper.

Let the hashbrowns cook undisturbed for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom is golden and crispy.

Flip them over with a large spatula and cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes, or until both sides are crispy and browned.

Add another1-2 tablespoons of butter to the cooking surface. Spread it around with a spatula to ensure even coverage.

Place the diced peppers, ham, and onions onto the griddle. Spread them out in a single layer and let them cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally until they begin to soften and develop a bit of color.

Hashbrowns and veggies

Mix the hashbrowns with the veggies and ham, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the hashbrowns.
