You need freeze the bowl of your ice cream maker at least 12 hours before you plan on making your ice cream.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar dissolves.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, for the best flavor.
Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
This usually takes 20-25 minutes.
In the last 5 minutes of churning, gradually add the mini chocolate chips or finely chopped chocolate.
