What is Cherry Clafoutis?
Cherry Clafoutis (pronounced kla-foo-TEE) is a traditional French dessert made by baking fresh cherries in a rich, lightly sweetened batter. It’s the kind of effortless summer dessert that feels fancy but is surprisingly simple to make.
Think of it as a cross between a flan and a pancake — custardy on the inside with golden edges, and packed with fruit.
This dish is especially popular in France during cherry season, but it’s a wonderful treat anywhere when ripe cherries are abundant.
Whether you’re planning a backyard dinner, picnic, or just want to make the most of cherry season, Clafoutis should be on your summer dessert radar.
