What is Corn Casserole?

Corn Casserole is a classic comfort food, often considered as a staple dish in family dinners and holiday gatherings. It is a simple but flavorful meal that brings together the sweetness of corn and the rich, creamy texture of a casserole. Primarily, it is a baked dish which typically includes ingredients like sweet corn, cornmeal, or canned corn cream, along with butter, milk, sugar, and sometimes cheese. It might also be made more savory with the addition of ingredients such as onions, bell peppers, or meat. The top layer is often gratinated to achieve a golden, slightly crispy crust that complements the creamy, soft interior. It’s a versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a side with a variety of main dishes, or as a hearty meal in itself.
