What is Creamy Homemade Mac and Cheese?
Creamy Homemade Mac and Cheese is a classic comfort dish made with cooked macaroni noodles and a rich and creamy cheese sauce. The creamy sauce is made from butter, sour cream, cheese, and flour, and is combined with the cooked noodles to create a deliciously rich and cheesy dish.
Ingredients
- Elbow macaroni
- Butter
- All-purpose flour
- Salt
- Garlic powder
- Milk
- Sour cream

How to make Creamy Homemade Mac and Cheese
Cook the macaroni according to package directions, drain and set aside.
In a small bowl mix together flour, garlic powder, and salt.
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minutes until the mixture is just slightly brown.
Add in the milk and whisk until smooth.
Add in the sour cream and whisk until smooth.
Continue to cook on medium heat and thickened, stirring constantly. Be careful to not let it boil. Reduce the heat to low and stir in cheese. Stir until the cheese is completely melted and the mixture in smooth and creamy. Add in the cooked macaroni and stir until the macaroni is completely covered in the cheese sauce.
