When I was a kid one of my favorite desserts was my Grandma’s Homemade Brownies. Unfortunately, I don’t have her recipe but I’ve been working on this recipe for awhile now and this is really close to the brownies she always made.
There are so many brownie variations. You can add nuts, frosting, no frosting, cakey or really fudgy, but I really love this version, which is soft and slightly chewy with a chocolatey frosting.
Grandma’s Homemade Brownies are awesome when they’re still warm, but they’re also delicious with a scoop of ice cream or a tall, cold glass of milk.
What makes Grandma’s brownies so special? It’s all about simplicity and love.
While today’s recipes might call for fancy ingredients or complex techniques, Grandma’s recipe is straightforward and made with pantry staples.
Butter, sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, flour, and a pinch of salt are all you need to whip up this delicious treat.
If you love Grandma’s Homemade Brownies, you’ll adore some of her other classic recipes like Grandma’s Peanut Butter Cookies, Grandma’s Goulash or Grandma’s Sloppy Joes.
Whether you’re making them for a family gathering, a bake sale, or just because, these brownies are sure to bring smiles to everyone who tries them.
What are Grandma’s Homemade Brownies?
Brownies are similar to bar cookies. Just like cake, you bake them in a pan and they have the same cakey texture. However, like cookies, they are considered finger food while cake is eaten with a fork.
Brownies originated in the United States of America. The first written mention of brownies was in an 1896 book by the Fannie Farmer Cookbook out of Boston.
