When the weather cools down and cozy sweaters come out, nothing hits the spot quite like a warm, comforting dessert. Bread pudding, especially Raisin Bread Pudding, is the perfect answer to those cravings for something sweet, nostalgic, and easy to make.
This classic dessert takes stale bread and transforms it into a luxurious treat with a custardy center, a crisp top, and bursts of juicy raisins in every bite.
I found the recipe for this dessert on Carnation website when I looking for a way to use some evaporated milk I had on hand. I just cut the recipe in half because I didn’t have that much milk and it was just the right amount for my family.
Raisin Bread Pudding has a delightful mix of textures and flavors: soft bread, chewy raisins, and a rich custard that brings everything together. It’s also incredibly forgiving – bread pudding can be made with day-old bread, leftover rolls, or even raisin bagels.
This dish turns humble ingredients into a decadent, warming dessert, perfect for sharing with loved ones.
If you’re craving more cozy fall treats, pair this Raisin Bread Pudding with other seasonal favorites like my hearty fall casseroles or soups for the ultimate autumn spread.
So, next time you have some day-old bread lying around, don’t let it go to waste – whip up this heartwarming dessert, grab a spoon, and savor the sweet simplicity of homemade Raisin Bread Pudding.
What is Raisin Bread Pudding?
Raisin Bread Pudding is a warm, comforting dessert made by soaking stale or day-old bread in a rich, sweet custard mixture, typically flavored with vanilla, cinnamon, and sometimes nutmeg.
Raisins are added for extra bursts of sweetness, and the whole dish is baked until the custard sets and the top is golden and slightly crisp.
The result is a soft, custardy interior with a slightly crunchy top, making it an irresistible combination of textures and flavors.
Often served with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce, Raisin Bread Pudding is a popular way to make use of leftover bread while creating a satisfying, nostalgic treat.
