Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/3 cup butter cold and cut into small pieces

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to combine and coat the apples evenly. Transfer the apple mixture to a baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
  • Add the cold butter pieces to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve the apple crisp warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
