Preheat the oven or smoker to 350°F, grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with softened butter, and set it aside.

In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in the pumpkin puree, milk, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
Gradually add the dry to the wet , mixing until just combined.
Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.
Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven or smoker and close the lid. Bake or smoke the bread for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once done, remove the smoked pumpkin bread from the oven or smoker and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
